Cedar Hill features several strip malls, shopping centers, and a historic downtown, which together offer a wide choice of restaurants and retailers. Dick’s Uptown Café is a laid-back local go-to for all-day breakfasts and other classic American comfort foods. Plaza at Cedar Hill has big-box retailers such as Ross Dress for Less, Hobby Lobby, Marshalls, HomeGoods, and Sprouts Farmers Market for grocery shopping.

David’s Seafood Grill at Plaza at Cedar Hill serves flavorful New Orleans-style seafood plates and signature bread pudding for dessert. Cancun has an extensive menu of Mexican and American dishes, including generous portions of fried fish, catfish, steaks, fajitas, and pork chops. BN Sushi & Grill offers sublime Japanese-style sushi and sashimi, plus daily chef’s specials.

Hillside Village is a major shopping center close to Shenandoah with more than 70 restaurants and retailers. Tenants include Barnes & Noble, Charlotte Russe, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Dillard’s, Express, Old Navy, The Children’s Place, and Victoria’s Secret.

Things to Do

Cedar Hill hosts several fun community events throughout the year. In September, Cedar Hill Creative Arts Festival features great art, food, and performances, plus many special activities for kids. In June, the Music in the Park Concert Series brings free family-friendly concerts to Valley Ridge Park every Friday evening.

Country Day on the Hill is an annual celebration of Cedar Hill’s heritage held in the heart of the city’s historic downtown. The event usually takes place on the second Saturday in October, and it has been a much loved local tradition since the 1930s. Country Day activities include a parade, contests, three stages of live entertainment, and more than 100 vendors selling crafts.

The historic downtown area in Cedar Hill is a wonderful place to shop and explore. You can explore the city’s past with fascinating history exhibits at the Cedar Hill Museum. Downtown’s Backyard Wildlife Resource Center has an interactive zoo where you can get close to a mix of local and exotic animals.
